Toronto-Dominion Bank Technical Analysis

The technical analysis of the TD Bank stock price chart on 4-hour timeframe shows #CA- TD,H4 is retracing up above the 200-period moving average MA(200) after hitting three-week low a week ago. We believe the bullish momentum will continue after the price breaches above the upper boundary of Donchian channel at 87.20. This level can be used as an entry point for placing a pending order to buy. The stop loss can be placed below 86.00. After placing the order, the stop loss is to be moved every day to the next fractal low, following Parabolic indicator signals. Thus, we are changing the expected profit/loss ratio to the breakeven point. If the price meets the stop loss level (86.00) without reaching the order (87.20), we recommend cancelling the order: the market has undergone internal changes which were not taken into account.

The Toronto-Dominion Bank is a global banking and financial services company with market capitalization at C$152.2 billion. The company earned C$52.31 billion revenue (ttm) and Return on Equity (ttm) of 7.33% while Return on Assets (ttm) was at 0.43%. The TD Bank is expected to pay about $3 billion in penalties as part of a settlement with U.S. regulators and prosecutors over charges it failed to properly monitor money laundering by drug cartels. As part of the agreement, the bank's primary U.S. regulator, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, is also expected to impose an asset limit barring the Canadian lender from growing above a certain level in the country, according to the Wall Street Journal. The settlement will include the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Treasury Department's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) and the Federal Reserve: the DOJ will take about $1.8 billion of penalties with the FinCEN getting $1.3 billion. A hefty fine and asset limit are bearish for a bank stock price.
